Below, please find commonly asked questions and answers about policy and coverage.

What’s covered and not covered with my plan?

If your pet gets sick or injured, we’ll help pick up the bill.

You can see exactly what your policy covers by reviewing your policy documents. Follow these steps to view your specific policy coverage:

  • Make sure you’re logged into the Fetch member portal

  • Go to Account

  • Then, go to Policy

  • Finally, go to Details to see everything regarding your pet’s plan

Like other pet insurance companies, we cannot cover pre-existing conditions. You can get more details on pre-existing conditions here.

Do you cover wellness (routine, preventive or elective procedures)?

Our main plans cover accidents, illnesses and injuries. We now offer a wellness plan as an add-on to our main policies for routine things like vaccines or annual blood tests!

Do you cover prescription food?

While we cover prescription medications and supplements that have been recommended by your vet as treatments for a covered condition, we do not cover prescription food.

Can I keep my current vet?

Absolutely.

With Fetch, you have the flexibility to keep your current vet or visit a new vet if you’d like. We even cover specialists.

And if you move or make an emergency trip to the vet while traveling, you're covered as long as you visit a licensed vet located in the US or Canada.

What is a pre-existing condition?

A pre-existing condition is a medical condition which first occurred or showed clinical signs or symptoms before the effective date of your policy or during the policy waiting period.

You can get more details on pre-existing conditions here.

How long is the waiting period?

There is a fifteen (15) day waiting period after the effective date of the policy during which we can’t cover any injury or illness for your pet.

There is a (6) month exclusionary period on hip dysplasia, cruciates and patellas. Waiting periods and exclusionary periods may vary depending on state. Refer to your policy’s Terms and Conditions for specific details. Here’s how you can find that info:

  • Make sure you’re logged into the Fetch member portal

  • Go to Account

  • Then, go to Policy

  • Next, hit Details

  • Finally, go to View policy documents

The good news is that we offer an option to have the six (6) month cruciate exclusion waived. If your pet is examined by a vet within the first thirty (30) days of the policy and the medical record specifically notes your pet doesn’t have any pre-existing conditions relating to the knees, you’ll be covered as soon as we receive the documentation from your vet.
