What is covered under death from injury or illness?
Your policy covers death from injury or illness if your pet is less than six (6) years old & passes away or has to be put to sleep due to injury or illness while your policy is in effect, we’ll reimburse you up to $1,000 of the price you paid for them.
What isn’t covered under death from injury or illness?
Your policy doesn’t cover death from injury or illness if:
A veterinarian is not able to verify the death or sign the death from injury or illness claim form
Your pet was put to sleep at your request & not as suggested by a veterinarian
Your pet's death results from an injury or illness that is a pre-existing condition
Your pet was put to sleep because of a behavioral disorder
The death is a result from an illness for any pet age six (6) years or older
How is my payout calculated?
Your reimbursement depends on whether or not you have an original receipt that proves how much you paid for your pet.
If you have an original receipt from the purchase of your pet:
We’ll reimburse you up to $1,000 of the purchase price.
If you don’t have an original receipt from the purchase of your pet:
We’ll reimburse you whichever is lower: the current local Humane Society adoption fee for the species of pet named on the declarations page or $150.00. (The declarations page is automatically filled out for you — there’s nothing you need to do.)
